A court verdict has been announced in a criminal case involving high-ranking officials in the Jizzakh region. We are talking about M.Kh., who worked as the khokim of Sharaf-Rashidov district, and N.I., who worked as the chief specialist of the district khokimiyat. The court decision attracted attention with serious accusations and severe punishments surrounding this case.
According to the verdict of the Zaamin District Criminal Court, M. Kh. was found guilty under several articles. In particular, he was found guilty of committing crimes related to embezzlement or misappropriation, abuse of power or official authority, bribery, and violation of land allocation procedures.
Also, N. I., who worked as the chief specialist for construction, communications, utilities, ecology, and landscaping in the Sharaf-Rashidov district administration, was found guilty of a bribery-related crime.
In accordance with the court's decision, M. Kh. was deprived of the right to hold official and materially responsible positions in government bodies and state administration for 3 years. In addition, he was fined 150 times the base calculation amount and sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment.
N. I. was sentenced to 2 years of restriction of the right to hold official and materially responsible positions in government and state administration bodies. At the same time, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
It was determined that both defendants will serve their sentences in general regime colonies. This indicates that the charges in the case were seriously assessed by the court.
At the same time, the verdict of the court of first instance is not yet the final point. The parties were informed that they have the right to file an appeal or cassation complaint, as well as a protest, with the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Jizzakh Regional Court in the manner and within the time limits established by law.
In short, this verdict once again showed how urgent the issue of official authority, state trust, and accountability to the law is. The position can be high, but not above the law.
