Smuggled gold and platinum were seized

State Security Service and Customs officers have successfully conducted a joint operation to stop the illegal trade of precious metals. During the operation, law enforcement intercepted a resident of Andijan born in 1985 at a traffic police checkpoint in the Khojaabad district.
The suspect was caught transporting 162 grams of gold jewelry valued at approximately $17,000. Investigations revealed that the gold had been smuggled into the country from neighboring Kyrgyzstan through the Dustlik border checkpoint with the assistance of several couriers, completely bypassing customs control.
Following this arrest, authorities obtained crucial information about another individual involved in the illicit trade of precious metals. A resident of Kokand, born in 1983, was reportedly searching for a buyer to sell 908 grams of platinum.
Acting on this intelligence, security forces organized a sting operation. The suspect was apprehended red-handed while attempting to sell the platinum to an undercover buyer for $62,950. Authorities have seized the precious metals as material evidence, and pre-investigation activities are currently ongoing to uncover further details of the smuggling network.
