Teacher in Namangan suspected of a crime against a girl

Based on the complaint of a parent living in the Yangikurgan district of the Namangan region, a teacher T.Sh., born in 1973, is suspected of sexually abusing a 6th grade girl born in 2013. The Children's Ombudsman has taken this situation under public control and has intensified social impact and awareness measures.
As it turned out, the parents appealed to the district internal affairs department on March 28 and reported the alleged crime committed against their child. The investigation department of the Yangikurgan district internal affairs department has initiated a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
The suspect T.Sh. was lawfully detained and a strict preventive measure - arrest - was imposed on him. Currently, investigators are conducting preliminary investigative actions, including collecting evidence and questioning witnesses.
According to Part 4 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code, the crime of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of fourteen by force, intimidation, or taking advantage of the victim's weakness is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 15 to 20 years.
The Children's Ombudsman stressed the need for increased vigilance among the population and increased awareness-raising measures for the safety of children. Public control and prompt measures will prevent such crimes and protect the rights of victims.
