Investigation launched into death of 70-year-old man in Samarkand

A pre-investigation inquiry has been initiated by the прокуратура authorities regarding the death of a 70-year-old citizen in the Samarkand district of Samarkand region. This was reported by the head of the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov.

According to the deceased man’s son, his father, who was a second-group disabled person and had recently been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, went missing under unclear circumstances on April 10. After a day-long search, it was discovered that officers of the Samarkand city police had taken him to a psychiatric hospital in the Samarkand district.

Upset by the situation, the son attempted to take his father home the same day. However, since it was Saturday and working hours had ended, doctors stated that the patient could only be discharged on Monday with the permission of the administration. He was taken home on Monday.

“However, at that time his condition was extremely serious. Doctors at the hospital administered medications that had a strong effect on his blood, and after returning home he remained unconscious for a day. As a result, he passed away on Tuesday, April 14,” said the son.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, a forensic medical examination has been назначена to determine the cause of death. The investigation is being conducted comprehensively, thoroughly, and objectively, and a lawful decision will be made based on the results.
