Suspect's property seized during search sparks legal dispute in court

Suspect's item taken during search causes dispute in court

New and noteworthy details have emerged during the court proceedings regarding Sanjar Karimov. Testimony was provided in court concerning signs of legal violations during the search conducted at his home. This was reported by the Kun.uz news outlet.

During the search involving operational officers from the Department of Internal Affairs, it was revealed that one of them secretly took a personal item belonging to the suspect that was unrelated to the investigation. This fact was officially acknowledged during the court session.

According to reports, the officer took the item without informing anyone. Later, while Sanjar Karimov was being transported to the narcology department, he recognized his personal property.

During the trial, the criminal investigation officer explained the situation, claiming he "inadvertently took it while playing with it in his hands." According to his statement, he later resolved the matter of keeping the item by reaching an agreement with Karimov.

How do you explain the fact that while we were going to the narcology department, I saw a branded item belonging to my company in your car?” Sanjar Karimov asked the criminal investigation officer during questioning in court.

Yes, I forgot, that is correct. There was a keychain-like object. Indeed, I was playing with it in my hands and took it out. I went to the narcology department together. When I asked if it could stay with me if you agreed, you said 'I agree',” the operational officer explained.

However, Sanjar Karimov expressed skepticism regarding this situation, stating that there were valuable items in his home during the search, including watches, and he is not certain they remained fully intact. He asked the officer for a guarantee in court regarding this matter.

Can you guarantee that all the valuables are there and that no one touched them?” he asked the operational officer.

The IIB officer stated that he could only answer for his own actions and could not take responsibility for the fate of other items.

In short, this trial has brought not only the main case but also potential legal violations during the search process into open discussion. This further highlights the issues of transparency and accountability in investigative processes.
