Another criminal activity threatening cybersecurity has been suppressed in Uzbekistan. During an operational event conducted in cooperation with the State Security Service, officers of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate, and specialists from the "Cybersecurity Center" State Unitary Enterprise, an individual involved in the distribution and sale of malicious "APK" programs via the Telegram messenger was exposed.
It was revealed that a citizen born in 2005, residing in the city of Chirchiq, Tashkent region, put special malicious programs he created himself up for sale online. He sold these "APK" files at prices ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 soums and delivered them to at least nearly 10 customers.
A notable aspect of the case is that he did not limit himself to merely selling the programs. He also provided technical support to buyers, offering advice on how to use them, how to access other individuals' accounts, and how to retrieve data. In essence, a fully formed "service package" was provided.
Experts emphasize that these malicious "APK" programs created opportunities for unauthorized access to others' Telegram accounts, reading SMS messages on devices, and even embezzling funds through payment systems. This represents a serious threat to the personal data and financial security of citizens.
The investigation established that the suspect managed more than 5 groups and channels on Telegram. On these platforms, he regularly advertised the "capabilities" of the malicious programs to attract new customers.
During the operational event, several technical devices were seized from his possession as material evidence. These included an "Asus ExpertBook" laptop, a "Redmi Note 10 Pro" smartphone, an external hard drive, and bank cards.
A criminal case has been initiated against the individual, and investigative proceedings are currently underway. Meanwhile, specialists are urging citizens not to download unknown files and programs and to pay serious attention to the protection of personal data.
This situation has once again demonstrated one truth: in the digital world, caution is not a choice, but a necessity.
