Large-scale drug traffickers exposed

Law enforcement agencies have intercepted another major drug-related crime. As a result of a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service and customs authorities, a large quantity of narcotics was seized.

The incident was uncovered in the Kogon district of the Bukhara region when a “Lacetti” vehicle traveling on the Surkhandarya – Bukhara route was stopped and inspected. It was revealed that the driver, born in 1993, had a prior conviction for drug-related offenses.

During a thorough inspection of the vehicle, 993 grams of opium were found specially hidden under the air filter in the engine compartment. This indicates that the suspect acted based on a carefully prepared plan.

The investigation established that the narcotics were obtained from a 46-year-old individual residing in the Termez district of the Surkhandarya region, who is engaged in international freight transport. Operational activities continued, and this individual was also apprehended.

During the search, 5 kilograms of opium smuggled from Afghanistan were found in his possession, and an additional 7 kilograms of opium were seized as material evidence from his residence. Thus, a large-scale drug trafficking operation was exposed in total.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspects regarding this situation, and investigative proceedings are currently underway. Experts emphasize that such operations are of significant importance in the fight against drug trafficking.

In short, this case once again demonstrates that the fight against drug trafficking requires constant and strict control.
