Plans to provide subsidies for electric vehicle charging costs

An important initiative has been put forward in Uzbekistan to further encourage the use of electric vehicles. A draft document proposing that the state cover a portion of electric vehicle charging costs starting May 1, 2026, has been submitted for public discussion.

According to the proposed new procedure, if the price of 1 kWh of electricity at charging stations exceeds 300 soums, the portion exceeding this threshold will be covered by the state budget. This benefit is planned to remain in effect until the end of 2030 and is expected to provide significant relief for electric vehicle owners.

Subsidies will be transferred directly to citizens' bank cards and will not be considered income. Payments will be made monthly, and it will be possible to track and receive them through the "Soliq" mobile application.

At the same time, data from charging stations will be integrated with the tax system. This will allow for the automatic calculation of electricity consumption for each user, ensuring transparency and convenience.

Another significant development is the planned launch of a digital platform called "EV-Power" during 2026. It will initially be introduced on a trial basis in Tashkent, and subsequently implemented across the entire country in stages.

Starting in 2027, all subsidies are intended to be provided exclusively through this platform. Through this system, all calculations will be automated, ensuring the process is more efficient and transparent.

In short, this initiative is expected to be an important step not only in increasing the number of electric vehicles but also in popularizing eco-friendly transport.
