A serious incident in the Ishtixon district of the Samarkand region has drawn public attention. Two minors have died following circumcision procedures at the district medical association, according to Hayot Shamsutdinov, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to preliminary information, the first case involved a child born in 2021, who underwent circumcision at the district medical association on March 22. However, due to the procedure not being performed fully and correctly, the child's health deteriorated, and he passed away in the intensive care unit on March 27.

The relatives of the deceased child have demanded a legal assessment of the doctors' actions and that legal measures be taken against those responsible.

The second tragic case involves another child born in 2024, living in the "Yo‘g‘ontepa" neighborhood, who underwent a circumcision procedure on April 3. He was also operated on by doctors at the district medical association, but his health later worsened, and he died in the intensive care unit on April 8.

During the preliminary investigation into these cases, necessary expert examinations and procedural actions were carried out. This included examining the scene, reviewing medical documents, and other investigative measures conducted in accordance with established procedures.

As a result, on May 2, the Ishtixon District Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal case under Article 116, Part 3 of the Criminal Code — improper performance of professional duties.

Investigative actions are currently ongoing. Official authorities have stated that final conclusions and legal assessments will be provided based on the results of the investigation.
