Incarcerated youth to be trained in digital professions and languages

Starting June 1, 2026, a new educational system will be launched for youth serving sentences in correctional facilities in Uzbekistan. Initially, this initiative will be implemented in facilities in Tashkent city, Navoi, and Kashkadarya regions.
The main goal of this project is to provide incarcerated youth with modern knowledge and practical skills, helping them adapt to society and find their place in the labor market after their release. In other words, this system is an important step aimed at giving youth a second chance.
According to legislation, training courses will be organized based on 8–12 month intensive programs. Classes will be held directly within the premises of correctional facilities. This creates conditions for youth to spend their time effectively while serving their sentences, learn a profession, and prepare for the future.
Within the framework of the program, youth will be taught high-demand digital professions. Specifically, training will be organized in programming, computer literacy, digital technologies, IT fields, and other modern professions. Given the growing demand for such skills in today's labor market, the importance of this initiative increases further.
The courses will involve youth serving sentences for crimes that do not pose a high social danger, as well as those convicted of less serious or serious crimes. This is intended to create a foundation for them to become professionals in the future, earn an income through honest work, and avoid returning to a life of crime.
The program is not limited to digital professions. Youth will also be given the opportunity to learn foreign languages. Specifically, classes in English, Russian, Chinese, and other languages are planned. Language proficiency expands opportunities for working in the IT sector, collaborating with foreign companies, and finding remote work.
Today, digital professions and the remote labor market are developing rapidly worldwide. Therefore, training incarcerated youth in these specific areas can open a new path in life for them. This is not just about providing knowledge, but about reintegrating an individual into society and giving them confidence and practical opportunities.
At the end of the training courses, youth who successfully master the programs will be awarded special certificates. These documents can be of significant importance for their subsequent employment, starting a professional career, or launching their own independent projects.
According to experts, such a system will take educational work in correctional facilities to a new level. Because it is important not only to punish an individual but also to provide them with knowledge, a profession, and opportunities to rebuild their life.
In short, from June 1, 2026, incarcerated youth in correctional facilities in Tashkent city, Navoi, and Kashkadarya regions will be trained in digital professions and foreign languages. Through programming, IT, computer literacy, and language learning, they will have the opportunity to start a new life after their release. If this project works correctly, it will serve to 'restart' someone's destiny.
