Beggar woman steals rings worth 15 million soums in Qarshi district

It is reported that a 33-year-old previously convicted woman living in Shahrisabz district entered a house in Qarshi district under the guise of asking for an empty bottle. She introduced herself to the housewife as someone knowledgeable in "traditional" practices, specifically as a person capable of warding off various curses.

Subsequently, the woman deceived the homeowner by claiming that a curse had been placed on her child, which would lead to severe consequences if not removed immediately. Taking advantage of the situation, under the pretext of dispelling the curse, she fraudulently obtained two gold rings belonging to the housewife, with a total value of 15,000,000 soums.

Later, she sold these rings to acquaintances and spent the money on her personal needs. During the investigation into this case, it was determined that she had acted through fraudulent means.

The court found the 33-year-old woman guilty of committing this crime and sentenced her to a fine amounting to 25 times the base calculation amount. Law enforcement agencies are urging citizens not to fall for such scams and not to trust strangers.
