A historic event unfolded during the marquee clash of Matchday 22 in the English Premier League, as Abdulkodir Khusanov became the first-ever Uzbek footballer to step onto the pitch in the EPL during the Manchester City vs. Chelsea match.
In just the 3rd minute of the game, Noni Madueke opened the scoring following an error by Khusanov. Shortly after, the 20-year-old defender received a yellow card for a foul on Cole Palmer. Despite these early setbacks, Khusanov displayed confidence in his gameplay for the remainder of his time on the pitch.
In the 42nd minute, Guardiola equalized for City. Khusanov was substituted in the 54th minute, and as he left the field, Pep Guardiola offered him words of encouragement.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about Khusanov’s debut following the team’s 3–1 victory over Chelsea.
“It’s not easy for Abdulkodir. He only had one training session with the team before being thrown into a match against players like Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, Madueke, and Sancho. This is the natural process when you sign a young player. Abdulkodir will adapt. These kinds of experiences are the best way to learn,” said Guardiola. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
