After sacking Thiago Motta, Juventus have appointed Serie A's best crisis manager as their head coach. Former Old Lady Croatian Igor Tudor has the best record in the last 90 years among managers who have taken over teams during the season and played at least fifty games in that position. He has won 86 per cent of those matches (59 out of 69), and improved his tally with Saturday's win over Genoa. However, a modest 1-0 is hardly fitting for the nature of the game. The Turin side had two good chances in the dying minutes.
And those were the clearest of chances compared to Kenan Yildiz's game-winning strike. The Turkish international burst into the box, brilliantly outwitted a defender and fired home from a tight angle. It was Yildiz's seventh goal for the Bianconeri. If he can score at least one goal before his birthday (May 4), he will set a Juve record for most goals scored by a player under 20 since the three-point-for-win system began. Yildiz is currently tied with Moise Kean on that tally.
"Lecce" - "Roma" 0:1
Goal: Dovbik (80).
"Lechche" — Falcone, Gilbert, Gashpar, Baskirotto, Gallo, Koulibaly (Kaba, 72), Ramadani (Rebich, 84), Perotti (Banda, 58), Helgason (Berisha, 72), Karlsson (Ndri, 58), Krstovic.
Roma — Svilar, Mancini, Hummels, Ndika, Salemakers (Pisilli, 84), Kone, Cristante, Angelino, Sule (Shomurodov, 72), Pellegrini (Baldanzi, 72), Dovbik (El Sha'arovy, 84).
Cautions: Karlsson (54), Baldanzi (75), Salemakers (78).
Roma moved up to sixth place in the European competition table after overtaking Lazio, who play their next match on Sunday. The Romans struggled for much of the game against the underdogs, and Claudio Ranieri brought on Eldor Shomurodov as a second striker. It paid off when Artem Dovbik converted a close-range shot in the 80th minute to extend Roma's winning streak to seven games. Wolves haven't had such a successful run since 2016, when Luciano Spalletti's side won eight games in a row. Claudio Ranieri, who saved the season for Roma, will have a chance to repeat that result next week - but the schedule is not easy, with Juventus first, followed by the Rome derby.
