Manchester United achieved a dramatic 5–4 victory over Lyon in the second leg of the Europa League quarterfinal, reports Euro-Football.ru.

The Red Devils were up 2–0 but allowed Lyon to equalize and send the match into extra time. Lyon then scored twice, taking a 4–2 lead.

Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty, narrowing the gap, before Kobbie Mainu and Harry Maguire scored late to seal a historic win for United.

According to Opta, this is only the second time United has won a match 5–4 — the first was in February 1958 against Arsenal.

In the semifinals, United will face Athletic Bilbao.
