Vitaliy Levchenko: We scored goals, but problems in attack remain

In the 11th round of the Super League, “Neftchi” defeated “Shurtan” 4–0 at home. After the match, the head coach of the Fergana team, Vitaliy Levchenko, participated in the traditional press conference and shared detailed thoughts about the team’s performance, tactical choices, and player conditions.

“We missed many chances”

“Congratulations to our fans on the win. The guys did well. In the first half, we created many opportunities, but couldn’t convert them. Despite our opponent being down to ten men, they defended tightly. The goal before halftime lifted our spirits, and in the second half we showed complete dominance,” said the coach.

Substitutions based on analysis and caution

When asked about the substitutions, Levchenko explained that some players had minor injuries, while others requested to be subbed off during halftime. “Those who came in maintained the tempo and were productive in attack,” he said.

Why didn’t Jokic and Jovovich play?

The coach also addressed the absence of Jovan Jokic and Vladimir Jovovich. “They can’t help the team at the moment. According to the medical team, they have high blood viscosity. They are currently undergoing treatment in France and likely won’t return before the end of the first round,” he stated.

Issues with finishing

“Our strikers are lacking something in finishing. It’s about skill, cold-bloodedness, and a bit of luck. The right decisions and accurate shots are needed. We’ll continue to work on this aspect,” the coach noted.

Corner routine and the third goal

Regarding the third goal — a long-range shot after a corner — Levchenko said: “We work on set-pieces during training. That goal was the result of our planning. I thank the boys for their execution.”

Even with a man advantage, dominance came late

Asked why the team didn’t take control sooner despite the opponent’s early red card, Levchenko admitted: “As I said, we didn’t capitalize on our chances. We should’ve scored in the first half. We’re working to improve our finishing.”
