Why did Ancelotti exclude Neymar from the Brazilian national team?

The new head coach of the Brazil national team, Carlo Ancelotti, did not include Santos club forward Neymar in the squad for the national team’s June training camp. The Italian specialist explained this decision by stating that the main criteria for selection are the players' sporting form and physical condition. According to him, Neymar has recently suffered an injury and is spending time recovering his form.

— I tried to select players who are in the best shape. Neymar is a very important player, and he will always remain important for the Brazil national team, — said Ancelotti.

In addition, the head coach emphasized that he did not call up players suffering from injuries. According to him, many players, including Neymar, are currently not in full form, so the decision was made not to include them in the national team.

— Brazil has many young and talented players, each of whom is ready to take their place in the national team. As for Neymar, we have to trust him. He will always be highly valued in Brazil, — added Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti also stated that he contacted Neymar, explained his decision, and that the player fully agreed with it. This means Neymar’s place in the Brazil national team remains secure for the long term.
