Igor Sergeev: “The UAE and Qatar will give their all on the field – we are also ready”

Uzbekistan national team striker Igor Sergeev expressed his thoughts on the matches against the UAE and Qatar ahead of the decisive stage of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round. According to the 32-year-old experienced player, both opponents will definitely fight for victory, and our national team is preparing adequately for this.

— In the current situation, everything is clear to everyone. The UAE is a very strong and potential team. Qatar is the same. Both have changed their coaches and are working hard to improve their position in the standings. Therefore, they will play with all their might for 3 points, — said Sergeev.

According to the forward, since these are official qualifying matches, it does not matter what position the opponents are in the ranking:

— Even a team with a lower ranking will fight to the end for a chance to qualify for the World Cup. Therefore, we do not distinguish between small and large opponents. We will prepare seriously against both teams and fight accordingly on the field.

It is worth noting that the Uzbek national team has two important matches ahead. The UAE-Uzbekistan match in the 9th round will start on June 5 at 21:00 Tashkent time. In the 10th round, the decisive match against Qatar will be held in our capital on June 10 at 18:45.

These two matches will be crucial for the “white eagles” in their bid to qualify for the World Cup.
