Manchester United’s seasoned defender Luke Shaw recently shared insights in an interview regarding the club’s current situation, internal dynamics, and the new standards being implemented by head coach Rúben Amorim. According to him, the internal environment has recently turned negative, affecting players' performances.
"It’s not that hard to notice what’s going on around the club. In recent years, the atmosphere inside the team has lost its natural positivity and has become toxic. What we need is a healthy, mentally stable, energetic, and joyful environment. Only in such an atmosphere can a footballer feel free on the pitch and fully showcase their potential," said Luke Shaw.
In his view, the newly appointed head coach Rúben Amorim has identified the issue and started taking decisive steps to improve it. Every team member must be mentally ready and fully committed.
"Since Rúben Amorim arrived, he has focused primarily on mentality. He always emphasizes that mental preparation is the foundation of team success. He demands full commitment from us. 80 or 90 percent effort is not enough. If you’re doing something wrong — you won’t be playing," the experienced defender stated.
According to Shaw, every senior player in the squad must increase training intensity and adhere to discipline. Amorim treats all players equally — no one has a special status, and this approach should drive fair competition.
"It’s crucial to give your all in every training and match. For the coach, all players are equally important. This principle builds team cohesion and mental strength. We must follow the coach’s instructions without hesitation. That’s the key to collective success," concluded Luke Shaw.
