In the second round of the CAFA Nations Cup, the national team of Turkmenistan played against Oman and lost 1:2. At the post-match press conference, Turkmenistan national team head coach Rovshan Meredov answered journalists' questions.
The coach first of all thanked his students:
- I thank the guys. We tried our best. But the injuries of my players saddened me more than the result. Many factors influenced this game. Our main goal was not the result, but the review and testing of our players. Now we need to focus all our attention on the Asian Cup-2027 qualifiers.
- Turkmenistan played well until they equalized. What do you say about this?
- Scoring a goal wasn't in our plans, but this didn't fundamentally change the game scenario. Such competitions are a great school of experience for us. Teams like Oman participate in many major competitions throughout the year. And we don't have enough games like this. Therefore, I express my gratitude to the organizers of the competition. Playing against a World Cup participant is a great experience. We played well in all three matches, especially against Uzbekistan.
- The Asian Cup qualifiers will begin in less than a month. When will the preparations begin?
- Our main goal is to qualify for the Asian Cup. There is very little time, but we will try to make the most of all opportunities.
- Which aspects of Oman caused you the greatest difficulties?
- I don't want to talk about the opponent, my main focus is on my team. But it must be said that Oman is a well-formed and strong national team.
- "Arkadag' will soon play against Andijon in the AFC Champions League. What can you say about this?
- I don't express a special opinion about this. You'll find out yourself by observing. But I am a fan of all Turkmen clubs on the international stage. "Andijan" will need to thoroughly study their opponent.
