In the 4th round of the EPL derby, Manchester City defeated Manchester United 3-0 at home. Following the match, City manager Pep Guardiola commented on Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
According to the Spanish specialist, the team will have to play every three days for the next 11 months. Therefore, he emphasized that it's impossible to always require a player to play on the right wing.
- If you think that Husanov will play as a right-back in every match, I'll say - it's impossible. We will need more players. But I know his physical characteristics well. He is still young, he needs to learn and grow. Nevertheless, he is very fast. Today, in his new position, he firmly closed the flank. Khusanov played clean football and hardly lost the ball," said Guardiola.
The coach also noted that a defender's excessive energy can sometimes lead to wrong decisions. According to him, this minor flaw will disappear over time.
- We talk a lot with Husanov. It's only a matter of time. His speed is amazing, he is always vigilant. "He played very, very well in today's derby," Guardiola added.
As a reminder, Abdukodir Khusanov was named one of his team's top three players in the first half of the derby.
