According to information released by 20Minutos, there is a possibility that the Spanish national team will miss the 2026 World Cup. Israel's participation in the tournament is cited as the main cause of contention and controversy.
Pachi Lopez, a representative of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, stated at the parliamentary session that this option could be on the agenda in the near future.
Also, the official representative of the government, Pilar Alegria, reacted to this issue and expressed a very firm opinion:
"Sport is not an island detached from life, far from reality. "If human rights are being violated on a mass scale, then sport cannot ignore this situation," he said.
Algeria openly called on international sports organizations and federations to exclude Israel from competitions.
It should be recalled that the 2026 World Cup starts on June 11 and will last until July 19. It is expected that 48 national teams from different parts of the world will take part in it.
