Inter defeat Ajax 2–0 in Champions League group opener

In the opening match of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Inter Milan defeated Ajax 2–0 away from home.

Marcus Thuram scored both goals for the Italian side in the 42nd and 47th minutes, sealing the victory early in the second half.

Despite Ajax having 57% possession and completing more passes, Inter outshot them 14 to 7 and created more dangerous chances. The result gives Inter their first 3 points in the group.
