Dembélé explained his tears at the Ballon d'Or ceremony

PSG forward Ousmane Dembele won the Ballon d’Or at the end of the 2025/2026 season. He explained why he could not hold back his tears during the award ceremony.

The footballer admitted that he cried when he addressed his mother:

“I wanted to be strong and thank everyone. But when I started speaking about my family and those who have supported me from the very beginning and have always been by my side, I couldn’t control my emotions. That’s why, in a way, I couldn’t stop myself,” Dembele said.

It should be noted that, according to the poll results, he surpassed Barcelona and Spain national team winger Lamine Yamal. Third place went to his teammate, French forward Vitinha.
