The Uzbekistan Football Association has officially announced: the 2006 World Cup winner and Italian football legend Fabio Cannavaro has now become the head coach of the Uzbekistan national team.
The famous specialist has participated in the World Cup three times and became champion with Italy in 2006. Now he will prepare the Uzbekistan national team for the World Cup to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.
Cannavaro will begin work with his staff. He will be assisted by the following specialists:
• Eugenio Albarella — assistant coach (has worked with the Japan national team, Juventus, Udinese, and Dinamo Zagreb);
• Troyes Francesco — fitness coach (has worked at Benevento, Udinese, and Dinamo Zagreb);
• Antonio Chimenti — goalkeeping coach (has worked with the Italy youth national team, Sampdoria, and SPAL).
This appointment marks a new stage for Uzbekistan football — world-class experience and professional approach will lead the national team towards new goals.
