After the Uzbekistan - Kuwait match (2:0), Fabio Cannavaro assessed the victory as a good start, but emphasized that the team still has a lot of work to do. According to him, every match - an exam, even friendly matches - requires competence and discipline.
"We played a good game. We made the most of the two-day training, but this doesn't mean we can do everything in a short time. After the first goal, many positive aspects were revealed in our game," the coach emphasized.
Cannavaro emphasized that he is indifferent to personal criticism and focuses solely on the team's interests: "For me, it's not negative opinions that matter, but the growth of the national team. My duty is to work in the field."
In his opinion, the main direction is ball control, "reading the game with reason" and strengthening the advantage by using the opponent more: "When we win, we need to keep the ball well and make the opponent run. This is not a simple matter, it requires practice and time. What aspects do we need to improve? Control the ball, understand the game, and play football with intelligence."
Regarding penalties, the coach also called for restraint: "It's important to feel the situation before a penalty. Mistakes are part of football; the main thing is to try not to make mistakes as much as possible."
Cannavaro described his policy as "targeted adaptation": a philosophy woven from several styles is applied according to circumstances and competitors. "We can't work with the guys every day, so we convey our ideas more through video analysis," he said.
