Our judokas, back successful from the CIS Games, given a festive welcome

Uzbekistan’s national judo team, which performed with distinction at the III CIS Games hosted by the Azerbaijani city of Goygol, has returned home. At the Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, the triumphant athletes were greeted with joy by leaders of the Ministry of Sports and the Uzbekistan Judo Federation, their family members, and media representatives.

At the Goygol meets, our compatriots captured 2 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze — 12 medals in total — in the individual contests and finished in the overall team top three. In the mixed team event, our team knocked off Belarus and Russia to reach the final and concluded the tournament with silver.

At the warm airport reception, our athletes were thanked and praised, with well-wishes offered for raising our flag high. The national team’s coaching staff assessed these results as invaluable experience ahead of major competitions — continental championships and world tournaments.

In short, the medal shower in Goygol further lifted our judokas’ spirits and inspired confidence among fans before the next proud starts. The national team is now preparing thoroughly for upcoming events, determined to keep delivering top results.
