Michael Owen: Manchester United has become a graveyard for footballers

One of England’s football legends, Ballon d’Or winner Michael Owen, has sharply criticized the current state of Manchester United. According to him, the club lost its way after the Ferguson era.

“After Alex Ferguson left, the team tried different managers,” Owen said. “But none of them managed to achieve significant success. Then they started blaming the players. They spent billions of pounds bringing in the world’s most famous footballers, but in the end, Manchester United became a graveyard for players. Many stars failed to shine and simply faded away,” the former striker emphasized.

Owen’s comments sparked major discussion among fans. Currently, United sits mid-table in the Premier League with 10 points.

Under Ruben Amorim, the team continues to face constant criticism. Many experts believe the “Red Devils” have lost their traditional strength and still haven’t filled the void left after Ferguson’s departure.

It should be recalled that Manchester United last won the Premier League title in 2013 — Ferguson’s final season in charge.

Despite assembling some of the world’s most expensive players, the results have not satisfied supporters.

According to Owen, United’s real problem isn’t tactical — it’s the loss of direction and spirit.

“In this club, it’s not only money that should work, but tradition too. Once, the phrase ‘Red Devils’ alone would strike fear into opponents. Now they’ve lost their self-belief,” said the former star.
