The Uzbekistan national team lost 2–1 to Uruguay in a friendly match. In the 61st minute, midfielder Otabek Shukurov left the pitch due to injury.
After the match, Shukurov gave a brief interview to Sports.uz, sharing his thoughts about his health and the atmosphere within the team. According to him, under new head coach Fabio Cannavaro, a positive environment is forming in the national team.
“With the new head coach, the team’s spirit is very good. Every player feels confidence and motivation. There are currently many injuries, but it’s natural because the team is adapting to a new style. We are gradually learning Cannavaro and his coaching staff’s instructions. Inshallah, we’ll soon master this system completely,” Shukurov said.
He also openly spoke about his injury:
“I had surgery on my leg this summer, and it still hasn’t fully healed. I hadn’t mentioned it before, but I still feel pain during some matches. God willing, I’ll recover soon and return to full fitness.”
Shukurov’s words attracted great interest among fans, as he stands out not only for his performance but also for his loyalty to the team.
Local football experts believe that under Cannavaro, the national team has entered a new phase of renewal, and experienced players like Otabek Shukurov play a key role in guiding the younger generation.
Thus, the team has begun a new chapter under its new head coach, strengthening trust and unity among players. Shukurov himself is confident he will recover soon and once again become a central figure in the national team.
