In the 25th round of the Super League, “So‘g‘diyona” defeated “Surxon” (2:1). After the match, “So‘g‘diyona” head coach Ivan Bošković spoke to journalists about his team’s performance and the players’ morale.
“I can’t say I’m fully satisfied with either the result or the quality,” said Bošković. “In the first half, we completely controlled the opponent, scored two goals, and created more chances. In the second half, we expected them to play more open football, and they did. We had chances to score a third, but made a mistake near the end and conceded.”
According to the coach, the team played with discipline even after going down to ten men:
“The defenders covered the opponent well. Mistakes happen — even the goalkeeper made one — but overall, the team showed character. Maybe it will be hard to compete for medals, but I told the players to maintain their level and respect themselves.”
Bošković also spoke about young goalkeeper Shohruh Isoqov:
“He has been with us for two years. A quality goalkeeper. He proved himself in the last match. Despite competition from Milan Mitrović and Muhammadusub Sobirov, he earned his place in the starting lineup. He has a bright future,” the coach said.
Bošković praised his central defenders:
“We were ready for corners and crosses. Rahmonov, Qobilov, and Ivanović were strong in aerial duels. After the red card, the opponent became more active, but we forced them to the flanks and closed the center. Only the goalkeeper’s small mistake — otherwise, it was good.”
Regarding striker Ljupcho Doriev’s top-scorer race, Bošković added:
“If our player becomes the season’s top scorer, that’s great. But he knows the team comes first. I was a striker myself — under pressure, scoring becomes harder. He just needs to focus on the game. We have 5 matches left and aim to earn 15 points.”
According to Bošković, “So‘g‘diyona” is determined to finish the season strongly:
“We’re improving a season that started poorly. We missed our chance in the Cup, but now we focus only on the future. We have strong players capable of quality football. We won’t give up — we keep moving forward,” said Bošković.
