Liverpool defender and captain Virgil van Dijk commented on the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the 8th round of the English Premier League, according to Sky Sports.
According to the Dutch player, although the team played well, carelessness became a decisive factor.
"I think we conceded the second goal due to carelessness. We tried our best to get back into the game, creating several clear chances. But the mistake in the last minute took the victory away from us. This is the most upsetting situation," Van Dijk said.
"The most important thing now is unity. This should be done not only within the team, but also together with the entire club, fans, and staff. Only then can we return to the path of victory," added the Liverpool captain.
As a reminder, United secured a 2-1 victory away at Anfield in the 8th round of the Premier League. As a result, Liverpool sits in third place with 15 points, while Manchester United is in ninth place with 9 points.
According to local media, Liverpool remained in the championship race after the defeat, but the team needs to quickly rectify defensive errors to maintain stability.
