Real Madrid is planning to sign Crystal Palace defender Mark Gehyi for the winter transfer window, according to Real Madrid's Confidencial. According to reports, the Spanish club is preparing to make an official offer for the English player.
According to sources, the "royal club" is preparing an offer for the defender for approximately 30 million euros. This indicates that Real Madrid has serious plans to strengthen its defense.
It is known that the 23-year-old Geh's current contract with Crystal Palace expires at the end of the current season. However, the Madrid club is not expecting this - they intend to bring in the defender as early as winter.
Mark made 13 appearances for his team this season, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists. His consistent play and quick decision-making skills are reportedly attracting the attention of Real Madrid scouts.
Previously, Crystal Palace manager Gehi had also acknowledged the high probability of leaving the club next year. Therefore, Palace's management might agree to sell him in the winter months to receive a certain amount of money from the transfer.
The Madrid side, however, is currently in need of a new player, considering the injuries in the defensive line and the poor rotation. If the deal goes through, Gehi could give the team new strength as one of Real Madrid's young and promising defenders.
If the transfer is finalized, he is expected to begin his new role at the Santiago Bernabéu in the winter months.
