Marseille narrowly defeated the outsider
In Ligue 1’s 11th round, Auxerre hosted Marseille on their home ground. Despite the teams being at opposite ends of the standings, the match was combative and evenly fought.

In the 30th minute, when Auxerre’s goalkeeper tried to clear a pass, the ball fell to Angel Gomes, who scored with a precise shot to open the scoring – 0:1. Early in the second half, a shot by Denny Namaçon found its way to Marseille’s net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Ibrahim Osman also delivered a dangerous shot, but the goalkeeper dealt with the situation. From the 65th minute, Marseille was forced to play with ten men, as Ulisses Garcia was shown a red card for a rough tackle on Josue Casimir.

In added time, Auxerre player Sinaly Diomande picked up a second yellow card and left the field. With this win, Marseille now has 22 points and overtook Monaco for second place.

Auxerre, meanwhile, remains near the bottom of the league table.
