Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the set date for the League Cup quarter-finals. The team will play against Crystal Palace on December 23rd, just two days after their away match against Everton.
The Spanish coach emphasized that such a schedule is too heavy for the players and increases the risk of injury.
"We have seven players out of action. In this case, there is no point in talking about the breadth of content. There are especially large losses on the offensive line. If there's a match every three days, it's dangerous not only for the team but for all of English football. We want respect and fair treatment," Arteta said.
In his opinion, the main issue is creating equal opportunities for all clubs: "First of all, the health of the players, then the interests of the fans, and then the same conditions for all teams. I hope the League will take this into account when making its decision."
According to Arteta, Arsenal has played a lot of games in recent weeks, and in this heavy schedule, each player is accumulating physical and mental fatigue. "In this schedule, even the strongest players cannot play at the same tempo for a long time. We are talking not just for recreation, but to protect our health," he emphasized.
Thus, December is expected to be a real test for the "artillerymen." The League Cup on one side, the Premier League matches on the other, as well as the competition in Europe - all of these put Arteta's team through a serious test.
