
The Uzbekistan women's chess national team is heading to the team world championship for the first time. They achieved this success by defeating Azerbaijan in the qualifying match.
This decisive match took place on November 1-2 in Baku. According to the results of the rapid chess format, the Uzbekistan national team—consisting of Afruza Hamdamova, Gulruhbegim Tokhirjonova, Umida Omonova, and Guldona Karimova—secured victory with a score of 2.5:1.5.
This win historically paved the way for the team to reach the finals of the championship. The world championship will be held in Linares, Spain, from November 18 to 23.
Together with the Uzbekistan national team, 11 other strong teams, including those from Spain, Georgia, France, Kazakhstan, USA, China, and India, will also participate.
