Van Dijk wanted to move to "Real"

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk showed great interest in moving to Real Madrid this summer. The Dutch defender's agents contacted the Madrid club, and van Dijk waited for the offer until the last minute.

However, as there was no interest from Real, van Dijk accepted Liverpool’s proposal and extended his contract. This was reported by Transfer News Live, citing journalist Jose Felix Diaz.

Van Dijk's contract with Liverpool is set to run until mid-2027. The Transfermarkt portal estimates the 34-year-old defender’s transfer value at 23 million euros.
