Lewandowski Demonstrates Mastery in Penalty Kicks

In the 12th round of the 2025/26 Spanish Championship, Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski successfully executed the 100th penalty of his career. With this achievement, he matched the records of legends like Harry Kane, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to an analysis by "Euro-Football.ru," Lewandowski's entire penalty record has been reviewed. In total, the Polish striker has taken 100 penalty shots, converting 89 of them into goals while missing 11.

This statistic reflects a penalty conversion rate of 89%, which is exceptionally high.

For comparison, Cristiano Ronaldo has taken 214 penalty shots throughout his career, scoring 179 (83.64%), while Lionel Messi has converted 114 out of 146 attempts (78.08%). Due to their greater number of penalty attempts, both Ronaldo and Messi also have a higher number of misses.

However, on average, Lewandowski has made fewer mistakes than these two legends. The forward executed his first-ever penalty in 2007 at the age of 19 while playing for Poland's club Znicz.

That initial attempt was successful, but he had to wait two and a half years for his next opportunity. In January 2010, he scored his first penalty goal for the Polish national team.

Lewandowski's first penalty miss came in May 2013 when he was a player for Borussia Dortmund, facing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. This was his eighth penalty attempt.

The majority of Lewandowski's penalty goals were scored during his time at Bayern Munich. There, he took 56 penalty shots and converted 51 of them into goals (91.07%).

Below is a breakdown of Lewandowski's penalty statistics across various teams: Bayern Munich: 51 goals, 5 misses; Barcelona: 14 goals, 3 misses; Borussia Dortmund: 7 goals, 1 miss; Znicz: 1 goal, 0 misses; Polish national team: 16 goals, 2 misses. Overall, Lewandowski has scored 704 goals in 996 matches during his career.

Only 12.65% of these goals were from penalties. For comparison, 18.9% of Cristiano Ronaldo's goals and 12.64% of Lionel Messi's goals came from penalties.

Interestingly, Messi significantly surpasses Ronaldo in goals scored during open play.
