The leading forward of the Iranian national team, Mehdi Taremi, shared his personal opinion about which opponent he would like to see in the final after the difficult victory over Cape Verde and about the Uzbekistan national team. According to him, although the choice of teams is not at the players' discretion, regardless of which opponent they are, they will enter the final with serious preparation.
According to Taremi, playing against Egypt will be a new experience, a new emotion, and a new tactical test for the Iranian team. Therefore, he admitted that they would accept this opportunity without particular difficulty. However, when it came to the Uzbekistan national team, he expressed his attitude in a completely different tone.
"No matter how many times we have played against Uzbekistan, they are still a very serious opponent. In recent years, they have grown rapidly, found their game, and become a very balanced team. Sometimes playing against them might seem a bit boring, but it's only because of familiarity. In reality, it's never easy to play with them," said Taremi.
According to the Iranian striker, the quality and team cohesion of the Uzbek players are at a high level. They demonstrate fast, disciplined, and tactically mature football on the field. Therefore, if Iran faces Uzbekistan in the final, they will give their all and fight to the end for victory.
"Whatever the opponent, we will not deviate from the goal," he added. "I believe that the game will further enhance the character, willpower, and preparedness of our team."
As a reminder, Iran advanced to the decisive stage of the tournament yesterday, defeating Cape Verde in the penalty shootout in the Al Ain Cup semi-final. In the final, they will face either Egypt or Uzbekistan.
