The renowned Portuguese outlet A Bola has criticized the national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo for receiving a red card in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers match against Ireland. The 40-year-old footballer was sent off early in the second half after being accused of striking an opponent with his elbow.
The publication noted that Ronaldo not only displayed aggression but also lost his composure and reacted inappropriately in frustration: "He gestured to the fans as if his dismissal was unjust. He should be ashamed of such behavior." The Portugal national team suffered a 0-2 defeat by the end of the match.
