The head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Fabio Cannavaro, spoke in detail about the team's will, tactical approach, and internal atmosphere at a press conference after the final match against Iran. The Italian specialist assessed the victory as a result of hard but worthy work.
According to him, playing against one of the strongest teams in Asia, such as Iran, in the final is always a very responsible and demanding situation. He mentioned that control of the game was in his hands in the first half, several good chances were created, but he was unable to convert them into goals.
Cannavaro especially emphasized the game in the second half: the team understood well that if a goal is not scored, the course of events could become complicated. Therefore, an attempt was made to increase the speed of the attack. However, there were few dangerous situations in front of the opponent's goal, and at the same time, almost no mistakes were made in defending our own goal.
Cannavaro called the pressure after the red card a "very difficult test." He particularly emphasized that not giving way to an opponent when one person is short is a clear proof of the team's mental stability, character, and enthusiasm.
He also spoke warmly about the Iranian national team: their squad is strong, the coaching staff is experienced, and there's absolutely no room for mistakes when playing against such a team.
Cannavaro stated that he has no intention of making significant changes to his tactical vision; efforts are underway to improve the existing game, maintain balance, and use high pressing in certain situations. He called the internal atmosphere in the national team "excellent" and admitted that the players work with pleasure and high spirits in every training session.
At the same time, he did not hide the fact that the physical condition of some players has significantly decreased. He noted that the end of the championship at the end of the year and the departure of a number of players to Europe complicate this aspect.
In terms of penalties, Cannavaro took a unique approach: training sessions were conducted both before and yesterday against Egypt, observing which player could score a better penalty under pressure, and the final selection was based on this.
He also commented on Oston Urunov. He said that Persepolis's conditions and opportunities for physical growth are good. However, he didn't hide the fact that Urunov's fall after 45 minutes in some games is a problem. He said that he had emphasized in a conversation that he should enjoy the game, avoid playing at a high level in one game and slowly in the next.
Speaking about Jaloliddin Masharipov, he mentioned that he has started training, started running, and if his injury allowed, he could help in this tournament as well. Hopes are pinned on March - when all the key players want to come to the training camp healthy.
A training camp with local players is scheduled for January. Cannavaro stated that he intends to give young people an opportunity and emphasized the importance of monitoring and testing them. He believes that every player is valuable for the national team.
The coach's statement once again demonstrated the formation of trust, a stable environment, and systematic learning within the team.
