Dani Olmo: We Qualified for the World Cup but Wanted to Win

Spain national team footballer Dani Olmo shared his thoughts following the team's 2-2 draw with Turkey in the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The "Barcelona" player scored for the visitors in the 4th minute, but the "La Roja" team could not secure a victory.

This result marked Spain's only failure in this qualification stage. Nonetheless, Luis de la Fuente's team claimed first place in the group and earned a direct spot in the World Cup.

"This is a good result because we qualified for the World Cup, but we wanted to win. In any case, this achievement is worth celebrating, although the draw left us with a slightly bitter feeling," Dani Olmo said in an interview with "The Touchline."

The Spain national team amassed 16 points, while Turkey finished second with 13 points. Georgia and Bulgaria, both with 3 points, took third and fourth places in the group, respectively.
