The Lost Generation of Bulgarian Football

Bulgarian national team footballer Filip Kristev shared his thoughts on the conclusion of the World Cup qualification phase. His team managed to secure victory in only one out of six matches and finished last in their group with three points.

"When I was studying at 'Slavia,' one of the best academies, I often trained alone with the coach because I was the only player attending morning practice before going to school," Kristev said in an interview with gong.bg. "Nobody cared about our nutrition or physical preparation.

In other countries, even if their coaches are not more professional than ours, they take better care of young athletes. This generation, the previous one, and the next ones are lost generations." "We've had great talents, but due to poor organization and corruption, our football is at its current level.

This is not our fault because we were not given the chance to develop." The Bulgarian national team has failed to qualify for major tournaments for 21 consecutive years.
