Jerar Martin Discusses Barcelona's Defensive Problems

'Barcelona' defender Gerard Martin has shared his thoughts on the team’s defensive issues this season. The Blaugrana have conceded 20 goals in 16 matches across La Liga and the Champions League this season.

Martin stated: 'It’s very challenging for the defenders to see the team conceding so many goals, even though defending involves everyone. We are working on improving this situation and I believe we will make progress.

The problem lies in small details, but they are turning into significant issues. The cornerstone of our playing style is effective pressing.

If we press intensively, it becomes difficult for opponents to play short passes, which greatly simplifies the work for our defense.

However, opponents have studied us better now and thoroughly analyzed our weaknesses. This is why we need to be 100 percent prepared at all times.

In my opinion, we should not abandon the playing style that brought us success last season. It’s a style that I feel comfortable with.
