Iran to Boycott 2026 World Cup Draw in the US

The draw ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place next week; however, the Iranian delegation will not participate in the event.

The reason is that the United States denied visas to several members of the Iranian delegation. "We informed FIFA that these decisions are unrelated to sports and have notified that Iranian delegation members will not participate in the draw ceremony," the Iranian Football Federation said in its statement.

The Iranian national team will be participating in the FIFA World Cup for the seventh time. However, the team has yet to advance beyond the group stage in any tournament.

Previously, FIFA approved the seeding pots for the World Cup final stage. The tournament will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
