Attack on Nice Players: Violence and Racism

Attack on Nice players: violence and racism
An unprecedented incident in French football: players of the club "Nice" were subjected to violence by their own fans. Following the team’s latest defeat, around 400 fans gathered at the club's training base to confront the players.

This encounter escalated into a severe confrontation. "Nice" had lost their last match to "Lorient," marking their sixth consecutive defeat.

The team failed to collect any points in the Europa League and remained in tenth place in the domestic league standings. These repeated losses exhausted the patience of the supporters.

One of the fans entered the team bus and ordered the players to get out. Subsequently, Jeremy Boga and Terem Moffi found themselves at the center of the events.

They were attacked and spat at. Club president Fabrice Bocquet fled the scene in his car.

Meanwhile, head coach Frank Eze received support from the fans. As a result of these incidents, Boga was sidelined for five days, while Moffi will miss games until the end of the week due to injuries.

Both players have filed police reports and expressed their desire not to continue playing for "Nice." This situation has sparked questions about the club's transfer policies.

During the summer transfer window, the club sold players for €108 million but only brought in new signings for €33 million. Club owner Jim Ratcliffe had earlier stated that "Nice" matches were not entertaining to watch.

In response, the fans turned their dissatisfaction into violence. France's Minister of Sport, Marina Ferrari, condemned the incident, emphasizing that violence is unacceptable at "Nice."

The team is set to face "Angers" on December 7, but the participation of Boga and Moffi remains uncertain. The incidents at "Nice" have dealt a serious blow to the reputation of French football.
