Rafa Márquez to Become Head Coach of Mexico National Team

The future of Mexican football is aiming forward as Rafa Márquez has been officially appointed as the head coach of the Mexican national team.

However, he will step into this role only after the FIFA World Cup. This was announced by Ivan Sisniega, the President of the Mexican Football Federation.

According to Sisniega, Márquez’s contract allows him to replace Javier Aguirre and take over as head coach following the World Cup. Since 2024, Rafa Márquez has served as an assistant coach for the national team and is now being promoted to the top position.

It should be noted that the upcoming World Cup for the Mexican national team will be a joint hosting event at home alongside Canada and the United States. As a player, Rafa Márquez participated in five World Cups, sharing this remarkable achievement with star players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, making him one of the record-holders in this regard.
