Kavazashvili Criticizes Russian National Team

Former "Spartak" player Anzor Kavazashvili has criticized the head coach of the Russian national football team, Valery Karpin. Kavazashvili cited the example of the Uzbekistan national team, noting that they have involved young players in their squad and now have a chance to qualify for the World Cup for the first time.

"Instead of following the approach taken by the Uzbeks by integrating young players into the team and playing against other international teams, our Karpin has brought in up to 50 players, consistently fielded the same experienced ones, and changed the lineup in every match," Kavazashvili told "Match TV." According to him, this approach by Karpin makes it impossible to develop football players for the national team.

It should be noted that the Russian national team has been playing only friendly matches for nearly four years due to UEFA and FIFA sanctions. When these sanctions will be eased or lifted remains unknown.

For reference, the Russian national team is currently ranked 33rd in the FIFA rankings.
