Barcelona's central defender Ronald Araujo has been temporarily sidelined from the team due to psychological issues. The Uruguayan player's struggles began during the UEFA Champions League match against Chelsea, where Barcelona suffered a 0-3 defeat.
Araujo received a red card and left the pitch during the first half of the match. The club has decided to give him time off to recover mentally.
According to Managing Barca, a group of Barcelona players aware of Araujo's condition met with head coach Hans-Dieter Flick to discuss possible ways to help their teammate overcome his difficulties as quickly as possible. The coach believes that achieving positive results on the pitch will be the best support, helping Araujo move past the setback and reducing the pressure on him.
Following the loss to Chelsea, the Catalan side has recorded five consecutive victories. It is still unclear when Araujo will return to the team.
