Saudi Arabia to Cut Costs for 2034 World Cup

The government of Saudi Arabia may introduce certain changes to its plans for hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup. According to *The Guardian*, declining oil prices and the consequent reduction in revenues of the Saudi Public Investment Fund have necessitated a review of projects related to the construction of new stadiums.

Reports indicate that the current proposals submitted by architects for the stadiums have been deemed excessively expensive. As a result, revised project submissions are being requested.

To reduce costs, some innovative solutions may be abandoned, including retractable roofs and advanced air conditioning and climate control systems. The budget cuts could also impact the selection of cities where matches will be held.

Initially, it was planned to host matches across several cities throughout the country. However, the plan is now reportedly shifting toward concentrating the majority of games in areas where a significant part of the necessary infrastructure is already in place.
