Juventus Secures Vital Victory Against Roma

In the central match of Serie A's 16th round, Juventus defeated Roma 2-1 at their home ground. Following this result, the Turin club has firmly entered the race for the top positions.

The first half of the match was marked by cautious play. Initially, Paulo Dybala’s shot towards the near post missed the target, followed by Francisco Conceição’s effort, which was saved by the goalkeeper.

In the 44th minute, Conceição controlled the ball inside the penalty area on the left wing, setting himself up and delivering a precise low shot into the right corner — opening the score (1-0). Roma attempted to respond in the second half.

Kenan Yildiz advanced from the left flank and aimed for the far corner but missed as the ball went wide of the post. Andrea Cambiaso fired a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty arc, forcing the goalkeeper to push the ball out of play.

In the 70th minute, Juventus extended their lead: following Edon Zhegrova’s cross from the right wing, Weston McKennie rose above his opponent for a header, which the goalkeeper blocked, but the rebound was converted from close range by Louie Open to make it 2-0. Five minutes later, Roma pulled one back: Evan Ferguson struck a low shot from inside the penalty area towards the far corner, and although the goalkeeper initially saved it, Tommaso Baldanzi netted the rebound with a single touch — 2-1.

In the remaining minutes, a powerful strike from Yildiz was denied by the crossbar, saving the Romans from a greater deficit. Despite the 2-1 loss, Roma remains in fourth place in the standings.
