Theo Hernandez Still Remembers Kolo Muani's Missed Opportunity

France national team defender Theo Hernandez has expressed hope of participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He still recalls with regret a moment from the final of the 2022 tournament: Randal Kolo Muani's close-range shot, which was saved by Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez.

That save preserved Argentina's chance to claim victory in the penalty shootout. "Every time I think about that opportunity of Kolo Muani, it hurts," Hernandez said.

"I think about it often. Additionally, I hope Italy also qualifies for the World Cup," the defender was quoted as saying by *La Gazzetta dello Sport.*

It should be noted that the upcoming World Cup will begin on June 11 and run through July 19. For the first time, the tournament will be hosted across three countries simultaneously: the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
